Compact Inkberry Holly or Ilex glabra compacta is an evergreen shrub ideal as a low hedge or border plant. Its shiny evergreen leaves create a striking backdrop for the densely packed black berries that appear in the summer and remain through winter. Compact Inkberry is best suited to be trimmed lower than its relatives. This dwarf Inkberry can be pruned into a hedge under 3 feet if needed. It remains dense and makes an excellent alternative to boxwoods. Deer resistant as well, making it even more useful.
